Instrumental and Vocal

Music Service 2021-2022

Please see the message below from the MTCBC Music Service for pupils who receive Peripatetic Music lessons in school and take part in the after school activities with the Music Service.

Instrumental and Vocal lessons with the Music Service

Throughout the pandemic our aim as a Music Service has been to keep our community making music by delivering music in a variety of ways because, as we know, it’s at times like this that we all need to keep playing instruments and singing for the benefit of our health and well-being. Instrumental and Vocal lessons with the Music Service’s Peripatetic Music Teachers are face to face across the county borough and online using Teams as part of a blended learning approach when required.

Making Music with the Marvellous Merthyr Music ‘MENU’ - Music Education Needs Us:

Our MENU (Music Education Needs Us) consists of materials, resources, guidance and online learning tools for use at any time. Here’s up to date information on our school/college activities:

  • 1-1 and small group lesson delivery

Pupils have access to face to face Instrumental and Vocal lessons in schools in 1-1 or small group lessons; these lessons are available online/remotely using Teams as and when required.

  • Continued use of ‘Charanga’

Weekly uploads of new material by staff, pupil progress monitoring, instrument and vocal specific programmes, termly schemes of work for each year group, plenty to stimulate pupils’ creative sides both in school and at home; Charanga have developed an ‘Independent learners’ suite of resources especially for Covid-19 which all MTCBC pupils have access to through their personalised ‘Charanga’ logins created by our staff.

  • Technique/warm-up videos.

The instrumental/vocal instructional and informative activities are available for pupils via Charanga, Teams and/or YouTube links.
