Counselling

Merthyr Tydfil School Counselling Service

What Is Counselling?

Sometimes it is hard to talk to our friends or family about issues that are bothering us. Counselling is an opportunity to talk about these issues and our feelings in a safe place. The Counsellor will not judge you or advise you but will listen to what you have to say and help you understand what you are thinking and feeling.

Anything that is said in counselling is confidential, unless someone is at risk of harm.

MTCBC commissions statutory school-based counselling for its pupils from The-exchange Counselling Service. This service is available for mainstream and special school pupils in Y6 and all secondary school pupils.

Where Can I See The Counsellor?

Counsellors visit the schools or pupils can opt to attend at a community venue. An online service is also available.

Counselling is available to any pupil on roll at one of the four high schools in Merthyr Tydfil.

Pupils on the EOTAs Programme can also access a counsellor. Please contact the Programme directly to check when a counsellor is available.
