Pride in Place Programme

The UK Government has chosen Merthyr Tydfil as a key town to receive a significant investment, with up to £20 million allocated over the next ten years through the new Pride in Place Programme. This is more than just a grant; it's a chance to transform our community from the ground up.

The Pride in Place Programme is a national initiative, but it will be shaped by local needs. This programme is designed to improve the places we live and strengthen the bonds that hold us together. We will focus on key areas that directly impact our daily lives:

Cohesion
Education and Opportunity
Health and Wellbeing
Housing
Regeneration, High Streets and Heritage
Safety and Security
Transport
Work, Productivity and Skills

Leading this effort is our Neighbourhood Board, independently chaired and formed to represent community interests, business perspectives and public organisations, working in partnership with the Local Authority. Their mission is to create a 10-year Neighbourhood Plan, including a 4-year investment plan to deliver tangible improvements and bring our community's vision to life. This work will be guided by three core objectives:

Call for Projects’ – Pride in Place fund now open!

The Pride in Place neighbourhood board is inviting local businesses, voluntary and community organisations across the borough to apply for funding through its new Local Grants Programme, which opens from 10^th July

The programme aims to support projects that strengthen community engagement, build resilience and independence, improve local neighbourhoods and increase community pride across Merthyr Tydfil.

Grants of between £1,000 and £75,000 are available for eligible organisations.

Your idea/project will need to meet the following priority/priorities:

P4	Deliver high-impact town centre regeneration
P5	Protect and promote heritage and identity
P6	Enhance public spaces and support mixed-use economy
P7	Strengthen community empowerment and decision-making
P8	Improve access to skills, training, and employment
P9	Support local businesses and grow the local economy
