Welsh Education in Merthyr Tudful. In accordance with my rights under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the following information regarding the provision of Welsh medium education in Merthyr Tudful: Does the Council have specific (statutory or non-statutory) targets for increasing the number of pupils receiving education through the medium of Welsh? If so, could you provide a copy of these targets, or refer to the document where they are noted? If there are no targets, could you clarify why the Council has not set any? Could you provide a full copy of the current Welsh Education Strategic Plan and details of any measurable action steps aimed at increasing Welsh provision in the county? What data does the Council have regarding the annual percentage of pupils starting in Welsh education in recent years (at least since 2019), and what are the forecasts for the coming years? What steps is the Council taking to ensure that parents and families receive clear and impartial information? What steps is the Council taking to ensure that parents and families receive clear and impartial information about the benefits of Welsh-medium education? Does the Council have any plans to update the current Strategic Plan to include new targets and measurable actions by 2026? I would like to receive a response within the statutory timeframe of 20 working days. If there is any information that is not available, I would appreciate a clear explanation of the reason for this.
