Question
I would like to know the following: - Details of school catchment areas (i.e. predefined areas within which residents receive some priority in the admissions criteria) which were used in the 2014/15 admission round in Merthyr Tydfil. We request this data in the form of a table of street names and addresses associated with each school, or a file containing the catchment map shapes in any GIS vector file format (see below for details). By GIS vector file format we mean a file which contains the coordinates describing the shape of the catchment area and can be used in GIS software. Examples of these formats would include (but are not limited to): KML, GML, MapInfo TAB, GeoJSON, ESRI Shapefile, Spatialite. We are happy to receive map files in any recognised vector format.
Answer
With reference to your request, at present we do not hold the current information in the format that is requested. The Local Authority’s catchment information is in ‘hard copy’ format which needs updating and is due to be revamped, starting in September 2015.
