For the financial years 2013/14 and 2014/15 a) How many fixed penalties for dropping litter were issued and what income was achieved from successful fines after costs? b) How many fixed penalties for dog fouling were issued and what income was achieved from successful fines after costs? c) How many penalties/prosecutions for fly tipping were issued and what income was achieved from successful outcomes after costs? d) How many sheep were impounded and what was the cost of providing the service? e) How many dogs were impounded, how many fines imposed; costs recovered and total cost of the service not covered? f) How many horses were impounded; how many fines imposed; costs recovered and total cost of the service not covered? g) Approximately how many litter bins do you have within your Authority area and how many employees attend to their emptying? h) What is the current fine imposed for littering and when did you last review the charges? j) Does your Council have a policy and regime for removing chewing gum deposits from the streets; and, if so, what is the annual cost of removal to your Authority?

a) How many fixed penalties for dropping litter were issued and what income was achieved from successful fines after costs? 2013/14 - Nil. 2014/15 1 – no income b) How many fixed penalties for dog fouling were issued and what income was achieved from successful fines after costs? 2013/14 - Nil. 2014/15 1 - £60 c) How many penalties/prosecutions for fly tipping were issued and what income was achieved from successful outcomes after costs? 2013/14 - 4 prosecutions commenced - outcome 2 simple cautions and 2 written warnings. Nil income. d) How many sheep were impounded and what was the cost of providing the service? Nil e) How many dogs were impounded, how many fines imposed; costs recovered and total cost of the service not covered? 2013/14 Impounded 203, Rehomed 105, Claimed 79, PTS 19, 2014/15 Impounded 149, Rehomed 93, Claimed 46, PTS 10. No fines, but fees levied on dogs reclaimed by owners 2013/14 2014/15 See attached spreadsheet for costs recovered. f) How many horses were impounded; how many fines imposed; costs recovered and total cost of the service not covered? See attached spreadsheet. g) Approximately how many litter bins do you have within your Authority area and how many employees attend to their emptying? At the last count there were 176 litter bins throughout the County Borough and 93 dog waste bins. At present these are emptied throughout the week by 1 man and a small van. h) What is the current fine imposed for littering and when did you last review the charges? £75, reduced to £60 for early payment. Fees and charges reviewed annually. j) Does your Council have a policy and regime for removing chewing gum deposits from the streets; and, if so, what is the annual cost of removal to your Authority? No policy on this. However we do provide this form of cleansing via our Tidy Towns department within the town centre area only. This is completed on a 2 weekly basis. Approximate costs are £10,000 per year, this includes staff wages, pressure washer maintenance costs and all other costs associated.
