Please could you supply me with information regarding your means of debt recovery. For information DCA = Debt Collection Agencies and Bailiffs Please supply 1. What is the decision making process of sending debts to DCA specifically: - what is the trigger amount that a debt has to reach before instructing a DCA? - does MTCBC inform the debtor that their debts are being passed to a DCA? - if MTCBC does not inform the debtor that the debts are being passed to a DCA why not? - if MTCBC does inform the debtor, how long do you give the debtor to respond? - how long does the debt need to be outstanding before instructing a DCA? - who decides on which DCA is instructed? - do you offer a repayment plan to the debtor before instructing the DCA? - if you do not offer a repayment plan why not? - how long does a debt need to be outstanding before it is passed back from the DCA? - is there a time scale on writing off the debt? - does MTCBC sell the debts to the DCA? - if so how much pence in the pound does MTCBC sell the debt for? - if it is not sold for pence in the pound, how much would MTCBC sell a £50 debt for? - also if so then why doesn't MTCBC offer the debtor to settle in full for the residual amount e.g. if MTCBC sells a £50 debt for £20, ask the debtor to settle in full for £30 - does MTCBC check to see if there are any vulnerable persons in the household before instructing the DCA? - if MTCBC do not check for vulnerable persons why not? - if MTCBC does check for vulnerable persons is this information provided to the DCA? - if the information for vulnerable persons is obtained and not passed to the DCA why not? 2. Please provide a list of Bailiff/Recovery Companies actively working on behalf of MTCBC. 3. Please provide a list of directors/owners of the Bailiff/Recovery companies actively working on behalf of MTCBC. 4. What contracts are held with the DCA? - if there are no contracts why not? - if there are no contracts how does MTCBC remunerate the DCA? - if there are no contracts how does MTCBC take action against a rogue DCA i.e. sue for breach of contract? - if there are no contracts how come MTCBC ensure their debt is repaid before the DCA takes any charges? - if there are contracts can you please provide a sample contract? - what background checks are conducted on DCA before instructing them to collect a debt? - what analysis does MTCBC carry out when they have been unsuccessful in collecting the full debt themselves? - what analysis does MTCBC carry out when the DCA has been unsuccessful in collecting the full debt? 5. Do ANY of MTCBC staff have any direct relations with any of the individuals working for or owning a DCA, be it by birth or marriage? 6. Over the following tax years: - 2010 - 2011 - 2011 - 2012 - 2012 - 2013 - 2013 - 2014 - 2014 - 2015 a. how many individual debts has MTCBC instructed DCA to collect on their behalf? b. what is the percentage of the number of debts fully collected? c. what is the average monetary amount of debt sent to the DCA? d. as a percentage what is the average monetary amount of debt recovered? e. what is the lowest amount of debt in monetary terms that has been passed to DCA? f. how many complaints have been logged with MTCBC regarding DCA? g. how many referrals have been made to social services as a result of a parent failing to repay a debt 7. What is the amount of remuneration MTCBC receives for accepting a DCA onto its books?
