Merthyr Tydfil Taxi fees 2026

Merthyr Tydfil taxi fees were last reviewed and amended in April 2017. Since then, in order to support the trade during the Covid pandemic and changes in the fuel market following world events, the Council has not increased these fees.

The law allows the Council to fully recover the cost of taxi licensing through licence fees.

Following a review of current fees on 4th March 2026, Full Council agreed to propose an increase in taxi licensing fees, subject to consultation, effective from 1 May 2026. These fees would recover the full cost of administering the licensing scheme.
