New Welsh Medium Primary School Consultation
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is consulting on proposals to establish a new Welsh-medium primary school in the north of the County Borough.
The proposal represents an important opportunity to expand Welsh-medium education in Merthyr Tydfil by increasing the number of Welsh-medium school places available to local families and improving access to Welsh-medium education across the County Borough. In doing so, it will support the Welsh Government's Cymraeg 2050 vision of creating one million Welsh speakers and increasing the daily use of the Welsh language.
The Council has a statutory duty to secure sufficient and suitable school places within the County Borough and to ensure that resources and facilities are used effectively to provide the best possible educational opportunities for children and young people.
The Consultation Document and Integrated Impact Assessment explain the proposal in detail and set out how the new school would increase the availability of Welsh-medium education, improve accessibility for families and support future growth in Welsh-medium education within the County Borough.
