Greta ‘Bin’ Burg, Shred Sheeran and Plastic Swayze among winning names given to new recycling fleet

A brand new fleet of recycling vehicles, with some creative and comical names, are now serving the residents of Merthyr Tydfil, in a bid to raise recycling awareness within the communities.

Hundreds of entries were received by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, and the chosen sixteen competition winners were invited to the recycling depot in Pentrebach to see their vehicle and collect their well-earned prize, sponsored by Viridor`s Community Fund.

The newly selected names are proudly displayed on the front of each vehicle. The full list of winning entries is included below.

"It’s more important than ever to encourage and support our communities to recycle, and the competition has not only raised awareness of this priority but brought an element of fun to it.
