Nant Morlais Sinkhole update 3.12.24

Engineers are working on a solution to stabilise the hole as quickly as possible.

Emergency works yesterday and today have included:

• Forming a dam on Nant Morlais stream so we can install pumps to over-pump the water and stop it flowing through the culvert.
• Continuing with drone inspections of the culvert.
• Doing ground penetration radar surveys to identify further voids.
• Dropping the water level of the New Pond reservoir to stop over-flow water going into the culvert.

We have security guards onsite 24 hours a day to keep the estate secure.

Our aim is to have properties at the lower end of the Cul-de-sac back home by the end of this week. We are working with Welsh Water on getting the supply of water back to those properties.

In respect of the rest of the estate, we are working with the utility companies to provide temporary re-connections to the remaining properties.

Again, safety is our main priority.
