Nant Morlais Sinkhole update 4.12.24

We have now completed the culvert inspection and no further issues have been identified within the culvert, so the collapse is localised to the area of the sinkhole.

We have created a dam on the Nant Morlais stream and will start pumping water today from the inlet to the outlet. You may see pipework along the route and to accommodate this, Pant  Road has a one lane closure, with two-way traffic lights to support the flow of traffic.

The sinkhole hasn’t increased in size since yesterday.

We are liaising with utility companies to establish temporary supplies to enable some residents to return home. We hope to have more information on this tomorrow.

Please note: The pelican crossing adjacent to Pantysgallog Primary School remains open from the northside for tomorrow, while we work to reopen the pedestrian footpaths.
