Job Purpose

To deliver simple, small-scale improvements to the County Borough’s Open Spaces. The spaces are two-tier as defined within the Merthyr Tydfil Open Space Strategy Action Plans (2016) and each is attributed defined objectives, which alongside the targets of the Nature Recovery Plan (2019 -2024)

To work on grounds maintenance projects, wildflower management, pond and watercourse maintenance, planting of native species. To work with the community volunteers to help them establish environmental enhancement schemes.
To assist in council’s goal of enhancing biodiversity in accordance with the Nature Recovery Plan (2019-2024). To work alongside other existing staff to establish and implement maintenance regimes that aid pollinators thereby bringing about a change in the way the environment is perceived and managed for the benefit of nature. To generate community interest and encourage volunteers to become involved in their environment.

You will need to complete parts 1 and 2 of the course and must be able to evidence this prior to starting work with the Authority.
