Adult Community Learning (ACL)
The MTCBC Adult Community Education team provides a broad curriculum of learning opportunities to adults across the Borough.
Our funding is sourced from investment from the County Borough Council, the Welsh Government and a unique franchise arrangement with The College Merthyr Tydfil.
As a department we are committed to providing a varied programme of learning –which meets Welsh Government skills priorities, but also responds to learners needs and interests. We strive to ensure a quality assured courses designed to help individuals function and progress in work, at home, and in their communities - Encouraging and supporting you to be the “best version” of yourself.
You can learn at a community venue close to where you live – or you can learn online from the comfort of your own home. Most of our courses come at no or little cost.

- Skills Clubs (brush up your Literacy and Numeracy Skills)
- Essential Skills – Application of Number L2, Communication L2 (GCSE equivalent)
- Develop ICT Skills:

- Digital Literacy - Using Social Media – and being a “digital citizen” (online shopping, keeping safe online etc) Use of online Platforms (Zoom, Teams etc), Applying for Universal Credit - Completing online forms)
