Merthyr Tydfil Adult Community Learning
The MTCBC Adult Community Learning team offers a wide range of learning opportunities for adults aged 19 and over across the Borough. These opportunities are funded through the Welsh Government’s Adult Community Learning Grant.
We are committed to delivering a diverse and engaging programme that aligns with Welsh Government skills priorities and responds to the needs and interests of our learners through our “Learn Your Way” approach. Our goal is to provide high-quality, accessible courses that help individuals:
- Progress in employment
- Improve essential life skills
- Succeed within their communities

What We Offer
Courses are delivered in community venues and online, and include both accredited and non-accredited options:
Skills Clubs
Improve your literacy and numeracy skills in a supportive environment. We offer:
- Beginner sessions (Pre-entry and entry)
- Advanced learning (Levels 1 & 2)
Essential Skills
Develop practical skills for everyday life and work, including:
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Numeracy and digital/IT skills
- IT/ ICDL – International Certificate in Digital Literacy L2
GCSE Equivalents
Gain recognised qualifications:
- Essential Skills – Application of Number (Level 2)
- Essential Skills – Communication (Level 2)
Workshops & Taster Sessions
We also run a variety of non-accredited workshops and tasters throughout the year. Follow us on Facebook to stay updated on new sessions and events.
Free Learning for Ages 16+
Our Community Learning Team also offers free classes for individuals aged 16 and over, focusing on developing basic skills through informal, accredited, and non-accredited learning.
Sessions are available across the North, Mid, and South of the Borough, offering flexible and accessible learning close to home.
