Teaching and learning

Parents of homeschooled children are responsible for their child’s education, but Merthyr Council has a legal duty to ensure that the education they receive is appropriate. Our Elective Home Education service offers advice and guidance to families who have opted to educate their children at home, including curriculum, basic skills, literacy and numeracy, methodology etc. We offer regular face-to-face or email contact enabling us to get to know our homeschool families and reach out with support when they need it.
