DIRECTORATE: Education and Transformation
DEPARTMENT: Ty Dysgu Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)
POST: Foundation Phase Teacher
GRADE OF POST: Teacher Main Scale / Upper Pay Scale + ALN
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Centre and Management Committee
Job Purpose:

The post holder will deliver high-quality, inclusive provision for pupils aged 3–7 in line with Foundation Phase pedagogy and Curriculum for Wales principles, supporting learners with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The role requires a strong focus on wellbeing, engagement, progression and relationships within a PRU context.
The post holder may also work flexibly with learners across the wider 3–16 age range, as required to meet service needs.
This role contributes directly to Ty Dysgu’s commitment to enabling all learners to progress towards the four purposes of the Curriculum for Wales, becoming:

The Foundation Phase Teacher will support pupils referred to Ty Dysgu due to complex needs that have impacted engagement and progress in mainstream education. The role involves working collaboratively with pupils, families, schools and agencies to support successful reintegration where appropriate.
A comprehensive learner profile will be developed for each pupil, drawing on baseline assessment, observation and learner voice to inform provision and next steps.
Under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team, the post holder will:
• Design, implement and review enabling learning environments that promote curiosity, independence, wellbeing and engagement
• Plan and deliver learning experiences aligned to the six Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs), appropriate to learners’ developmental stages
