Weight limits
Weight limits are introduced by a Traffic regulation Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Council has introduced various weight limits to prevent lorries using roads that are unsuitable including weak bridges.
Weight limit signing is provided and must comply with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002.
Enforcement of such restrictions in the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough is the responsibility of South Wales Police.
