The Merthyr Tydfil Integrated Demonstration Equipment (MIDEC) was officially opened in December 2009 by Mr Simon Dean, Head of Policy and Planning for the Welsh Assembly Government.
The Centre is aimed at vulnerable individuals, mainly the elderly, who may require assistive technology (Telecare) in order to maintain independence by being able to remain in their own home.
The Community Occupational Therapy Service is concerned with helping people of all ages with a disability, and their carers, to make the most of their abilities and remain as independent as possible within their own homes.
Community Occupational Therapists are qualified to work with people who have a wide range of disabilities.
