The Directorate’s Day Centres assist those people who need intensive or specialist help. Finding the right one for you will depend upon an assessment of your needs. For example, you may need help with personal care, finding ways of living independently, cooking skills, simple physical exercises or assistance to access employment or learning opportunities.
There are other Centres where you can meet friends and have a chat. At some, you can enjoy a meal or other social activities.
Although we do our utmost to help you to get out and about locally, sometimes other groups – such as voluntary or self-help groups – can help you more. If so, we’ll put you in touch with them.
The Local Authorities Day Services are accessed following an Assessment of Needs being undertaken with the Individual which indicates that a service is required. The Assessor Care Manager will request a service response through Day Services Panel. On confirmation of service, the Assessor Care Manager will ensure that the Assessment of Needs, Care Plan and a copy of the Financial Assessment (Charging Policy) are forwarded to the Provider. This process will, under normal circumstances, take no longer than 5 working days to process (upon receipt of the appropriate paperwork). A probationary/trial period may be utilised if necessary. Please contact the Duty Officer for further details.
All individuals with a learning disability, physical disability and individuals with a mental health problem and people who are getting older, have the right to:
Either by the service user or by the Organisation.
This process in the main will take place through a Review/Unplanned Review of the existing service provision, with the Provider Service and the Assessment and Care Management Teams, and the request for an update on the Assessment of Needs if required.
If you have difficulty in using ordinary cars and buses, special services are available. We can put you in touch with them. Special transport arrangements may also be made to help you use our services.
