Meals on Wheels
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council no longer provides a hot delivery Meals on Wheels Service.
Whilst the Council no longer provides this service, support can be provided to vulnerable people who have been assessed as requiring assistance with preparing meals.
What do I do if I feel I need support with preparing meals?
If you feel that you need support with preparing meals, you can contact the Adult Duty Staff on 01685 724500.
The duty staff will take the initial information about what support you need over the phone; and may arrange a visit to carry out an assessment, to have a greater understanding of what support you need and whether you meet the eligibility criteria for support.
What if I do not meet the eligibility criteria?
If the outcome of the assessment is that you are not eligible for support from the Council to prepare meals, the duty staff will provide you with information regarding other services available in the area.
How will I be supported if I do meet the eligibility criteria?
If the assessment identifies that you are eligible for support from the Council to help with preparing meals, then arrangements will be made with one of the domiciliary care providers (home care) to call to your home.
How much will it cost?
There will be a charge for any support provided based on a financial assessment of your circumstances. Please visit our Paying for Care webpage for details of charging (Page is currently being updated).
